We love fit boys who read books!
As of tomorrow, it’s officially National Storytelling Week! So if you love books already prepare to love them a little bit more, and if you don’t, well, give it a go!We’d never have had a topless Taylor Lautner on our screens (probably) and a vampy Robert Pattinson to drool over were it not for Stephenie Meyer’s books remember. Nor would we lurrrve Daniel Radcliffe and the Harry Potter cast so much, so thanks JK Rowling!
To help celebrate this national week of storytelling, folk at FilmClub.org (the after school club) got close and personal with Twi-hunk Kellan Lutz and Harry Potter star Tom Felton, to talk book-to-film adaptations.
“The [Twilight] book has a huge part to play in why the films are so popular,” said Kellan. “It’s a great story about an endless love, which everybody falls in love with, but which is taken to the extreme. It really is both a dynamic book and story….it’s really unique!”
“There are so many fantastic book adaptations out there,” gushed Tom. “The ‘Twilight’ books are a great example, and I think personally JK [Rowling] has really opened up such a great world for the youth to get really into books, really into franchises of books, and for them to be shown in a proper light with film.”
“It’s fantastic they can do that…. I’m reading a fantastic book at the moment called ‘The Boy Who Dared’, by Susan Campbell Bartoletti. It’s amazing, and I think it would make such a fantastic film.”

3D Greek actioner stars Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto
Ramping up its distribution arm, Relativity Media will take over distribution from Universal and release its 3D Greek mythology actioner “Immortals” on Nov. 11 in association with Universal Pictures Intl.U had been set to distribute the pic domestically on that date. Pic’s directed by Tarsem Singh and stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt and Mickey Rourke.
Relativity changed the title in April — when Singh began shooting — from “War of the Gods” to “Immortals.” Story follows the ruthless King Hyperion (played by Rourke) leading his bloodthirsty army on a murderous rampage across Greece to find a weapon that will destroy humanity. Theseus (Cavill), a mortal chosen by Zeus, must lead the fight against Hyperion with the fate of mankind and the gods at stake.
“Immortals” is produced by Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Ryan Kavanaugh, and exec produced by Tucker Tooley, Tommy Turtle and Jeff G. Waxman.
The distribution switch on “Immortals” from Universal, announced Tuesday, comes six months after Relativity absorbed Overture Films’ distribution and marketing operation and a week after Relativity released its first inhouse production, “Season of the Witch.”
Relativity’s upcoming slate includes “Take Me Home Tonight,” which stars Topher Grace and Anna Faris and is set for a March launch; “Limitless,” which stars Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro and is set for a March 18 opening; and an untitled David R. Ellis 3D shark thriller set to debut Sept. 2.

SceneLouisiana.com posted an article and interview on their site along with the first stills from Kellan’s new films “The Killing Games” and “Love, Wedding, Marriage.”
[...] “I’m blessed to be doing the Twilight movies because I know I get to make multiple movies,”Kellan says. “So, let’s go find some independents with meaty parts: let’s find a drama, let’s find a comedy, let’s find a thriller, let’s find a romantic comedy, a love story. I know my strengths and weaknesses. So, I might not take the great paying jobs of playing the frat guy, playing the jock, playing the preppy boy, because that’s what people see me as already. I’d rather do something a little different. It’s very tough for me to be seen as vulnerable or someone who could be beaten up, so its tough to get those roles, but I’m all for it.”
The planning has paid off. While Kellan is currently in Baton Rouge filming Breaking Dawn, the two-part finale to The Twilight Saga, it isn’t the first time he’s filmed in Louisiana. Just a few months ago, he was the lead in two films that could not have been more different. While shooting the action-thriller The Killing Game in Baton Rouge, he was also starring in the romantic comedyLove, Wedding, Marriage in New Orleans.
“It was really one of the best moments in my acting career: doing two movies at the same time, shooting three days here and driving down to New Orleans with a six-hour turnaround, putting on a suit to do Love, Wedding, Marriage for two days. Then, driving back up, putting on prosthetics, getting all bloody and fighting. I didn’t have a single day off for thirty-three days,” he says. “And I was the lead in those two movies. I loved it, because I haven’t had that opportunity. Doing these two completely different projects was so challenging and I thrived on it. I never felt so energetic. A lot of times I only had three hours of sleep.”
