Kellan Lutz, vampire-turned-designer, recently stopped by Nordstrom Fashion Valley in San Diego to promote the Abbot + Main spring line—his new collection of comfy basics—and to hand out long-stemmed white roses and hugs to his (mostly) teenage audience and their adoring mothers. Nevermind his newly shaved head and the frequent piping in by co-founder Danny Guez, Racked correspondent Christianna Ablahad got the scoop on the line, Lutz rolling around with Adam Levine’s girlfriend, and why he loves Juicy Couture, all in an unintended three-way interview.

Racked: What prompted you to start a clothing line?
Kellan Lutz: Well, I started out as a model when I was 14 and fell in love with modeling. I really learned a lot with different labels, photographers, and designers I shot with. I then became an actor, but I always just wanted to create a design. Around the same time, Danny [Guez] (hits Danny’s knee) was looking to start another line.

Danny Guez: I created William Rast and People’s Liberation, then launched Dylan George in 2008. Then the recession hit. That was really fun, trying to sell $200 jeans. Then I just wanted to get back to grassroots and cross-promoting with a reputable celebrity. Guys really like Kellan and girls want to be with him. A mutual friend reps him and asked how I felt about him. I was trying to figure out a muse for the brand, and I looked him up and thought, “Wow, this guy’s amazing.” We set up a meeting, and within the first day, we became instant best friends. (Looks at Kellan) Can I say best friends?
KL: Lovers, lovers. Whatever you want to say.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) unleashes an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful. The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission. As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity. ‘Immortals’ is set for release November 11th, 2011. The film also stars John Hurt, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Robert Maillet, Luke Evans and Corey Sevier.

What interested you in playing Poseidon?
Kellan Lutz: It’s a dream role for me. I just love my character. And I love that Tarsem made them young Gods, so we can have more fun with it, like we all did in our 20?s or 30?s, we’re all youthful. If you’re a God, you might as well be at your physical and mental peak. I have a Trident, the Trident is pretty cool to fight with, especially with our battle scene. I play Zeus’ brother, so it’s that brotherly love, I feel like I’m the fun uncle when Zeus is making all the rules and he’s not so fun. I break them, but I can. The sea is my domain, and I can go for a swim.

Is it a traditional looking Trident?
Kellan Lutz: Everything that Tarsem Singh does has to be unique, in its own way. The first Trident we had was heavy. I was trying to fight with it and was hitting myself and giving myself bruises, and that wasn’t fun (laughs). But we found a great method and the Trident is definitely very unique.

Was there special Trident training?
Kellan Lutz: There was staff training, yes – that was fun! I’ve done a lot of training. I love action movies and I’ve been trained in a lot of mixed martial arts, but nothing with the staff. We had really great trainers.

Was it hard to find the right balance between playing the Gods as these powerful beings, while also making them relatable, in some way?
Kellan Lutz: You don’t look at them as Gods. You make layers. I’m a brother and I’m like an uncle, so for my characters, I loved playing the uncle role. I have a funny uncle, and he’s just who I go to when I’m in trouble and I can’t talk to my mum. He’s always there to give me advice, but to also make jokes with you. He’s just always been there for me. That’s what I drew from for Poseidon. You’re just made into a God by the costume you’re wearing and the cool weapons and just being around the scenario that you’re in.

Twilight hottie Kellan Lutz dished last night about two personal yet unrelated topics. He was bullied as a kid by none other than his older brother! He learned to fight back and “be tough or make yourself mentally tough.” Then, of course the conversation switched to a lighter note like Ashley Greene borrowing his clothes and his thoughts on girls wearing guys’ clothing. Find out more after the jump!

Kellan told reporters at the WWE and The Creative Coalition Present “be a STAR” Anti-Bullying Alliance event that he was actually called Dumbo growing up because he had big ears. He explained to OK!, “I was the middle child. I had older brother who beat me up. It made me a stronger kid, but the physical abuse was nothing compared to… I mean it is brotherly love, but I couldn’t tell my older brothers that kids at school were calling me Dumbo because they would beat me up even more.”

He also felt that he couldn’t tell his mom because she was busy taking care of the older brothers causing trouble and the younger brothers because they were young. He added, “I really had no outlet for a couple of years but then I made some really good friends and I trusted in them. And, I kind of dealt with it. You have to be vocal with it.”

By being vocal, he meant standing up for yourself. He told OK!, “My brothers always encouraged me to fight back and not run away so that’s probably not the best advice for me to give, but you have to talk to someone and you have to stand up for yourself. You have to be tough or make yourself mentally tough.”

And in case you’re wondering, he does see the people who called him Dumbo and while he’s not going to sink to their level, he dished, “…I get the last laugh.”

Sweet revenge indeed! Something else that’s sweet is Kellan’s fashion line. “My line is not the girly girl line,” he said. ”It’s a comfortable line and that’s how I live my life. I want to be comfortable. I can still be tough. I can still run.”

Actually, Robert Pattinson talked to him about doing his own line, too. Kellan added, “He was like, ‘I should do one’ and he found out I was doing one and he was like, ‘really?’ He wants to do one, too. We called it “Rags By Rob” or something like that. He’s always so hipster.”

Kellan’s line is men’s right now but he’s working on a women’s line that will launch next spring. The hands-on actor says he makes the call on every decision. “All of the designs, stuff like that. I know exactly what kinds of comfortable clothes I like. I’m very hands-on because I want to be.”

So, whether or not he’s worried about roommate Ashley Greene stealing his clothes, it sounds like it’s too late for that. He proclaimed, “She always does!” Then he added, “I think girls who rock guy’s clothes are cute. See through jerseys. Yes!”

Once word got out about our exclusive Comic-Con Q&A with the cast of “Breaking Dawn,” fans took to Twitter in droves to ask for the inside scoop on everything from behind-the-scenes gossip to the vampire stars’ preferred brand of body glitter! But when we sat down with Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, there were two questions that really stood out…and garnered a couple surprising answers.

First on the list: a “Breaking Dawn” blooper reel! Is this an Actual Thing we might see on the DVD?

Sadly, the stars couldn’t confirm—but if there is such a reel, Ashley knows exactly which behind-the-scenes shenanigans she’d most like to see on it.

“We kind of pulled a prank on the director,” she explained. “The whole entire extended cast—like, every vampire coven—decided to plan out this dance, and do it instead of doing the scene.”

We’ll put in a pause here, so that everyone can gape in slack-jawed awe at the image of a thousand sparkly vampires doing the Tootsie Roll (or, even better, their own version of “Thriller”!) And Ashley revealed that their impromptu choreography had the desired effect: “Bill [Condon, the director] started hysterically laughing,” she remembered. So if there is a blooper reel? “I think that would definitely be on there.”

And now, the question on everyone’s mind: do the “Twilight” stars ever google themselves, or read about themselves on Wikipedia?

“Oh, I have to read my Wikipedia page,” Ashley said. “Because some people like to go on, and put untrue facts about you on it.”

And while we’d ordinarily go on to ask who would ever do such a ghastly thing, Mr. Kellan Lutz’s gleeful evilgrin leaves little question as to the identity of the culprit.

“What are you talking about?” he asked. “And how are your three kids doing?”

Big movie means a big cast, and a big cast means an abundance of set visit interviews. Not only did we get to speak with the man in charge himself, director Tarsem Singh, but Stephen Dorff (Stavros), Freida Pinto (Phaedra), Luke Evans (Zeus), Henry Cavill (Theseus), Kellan Lutz (Poseidon) and Isabel Lucas (Athena), too. Rather than forcing you to ogle your computer screen for hours sorting through transcriptions, I bring you the best of the best of each.

Kellan Lutz – Poseidon

Q: Can you tell us about the casting process and why you wanted to be cast?
Lutz: I read the script of this a while ago and I loved it, fell in love with it. At first auditioned for Ares, which I loved… they liked what I did, but they viewed Ares as taller, skinnier and more youthful, so I was really bummed because they didn’t really release all the characters for this movie and then I was like, ‘Okay, how about young Zeus?’ But then they had rumored that Alex Skarsgård and his father were going to do young Zeus and older Zeus, so I was just really bummed. I wanted to play someone in this movie. I love mythology, grew up loving it. I’m a middle kid, big family, that’s the thing you did in the farm country. [Laughs] I lived in Iowa, I loved mythology. I don’t know, we’re like that. But I also love Poseidon and I’m a Pieces, March 15th is my birthday, I love to swim, I competed in swimming, I swim in my backyard as much as I can when I’m back home and again, I never saw the role of Poseidon in here. So then they called back saying that I couldn’t do young Zeus and then they offered me Poseidon and I’m like, “What? Where’s Poseidon? Yeah! For sure!”

Q: Do you see this movie as a step up for you or a challenge to get out of “The Twilight Saga”?
Lutz: I’m very blessed with “The Saga” because I am a character that, yeah, people ask why I don’t have as many lines as everyone else. Well, I can’t change the books so my character’s more of a presence. Even in “Eclipse,” I have more action and fighting scenes than I do dialogue. I can’t help that. I’m very fortunate and blessed that it still pushes my career up to the level where I’m not the face of the books, so I’m still, like floating, so the next thing I do, like the other independent movies I do and I’m very choosy with like “The Killing Game” is my own type of underground “Gladiator”/Jason Bourne type of movie. That’s what I want to do so being a part of these huge commercial movies like “Twilight” opens up doors so I can be the star of other movies and really show my acting chops, show and pick what I want to do as an actor kind of molded my career.

Q: With the very first “Twilight,” you knew sequel potential existed. Sometimes these big movies come out and they’re a success and then everyone scrambles to figure out how to make the sequel. Is there a sense of that on this set?
Lutz: This movie is different than any movie you guys will ever see because it’s not based on a book, it’s based on a really original idea, concept, mixing mythology, creating a story out of its own. It doesn’t have to follow any guidelines. That’s the beauty of it. What you’ll see in the beginning of this movie and what it transforms into as far as the story of Theseus and then what it ends on, kind of reflects back to the beginning and takes you on another journey of who might this new hero be. And then as you see with the epic battle with us Gods at the end, you guys are all here as we’re shooting – again, these are big movies and you always look to capitalize on sequels, third movies.

From day one when Tarsem showed us what he saw of each set, he built little models and I loved those 3D puzzles growing up… what he made with these models, I felt like a little boy again. I wanted to go play with my toys. And seeing these blown up, in here like we’re shooting with the Titan’s tomb, it’s so surreal again because it’s exactly how I saw it times ten and he can just create anything. And with the end of this movie it’s going to make you be like, ‘Wow, I just want to see where this next story goes.’

Kellan also chatted about the final Twilight film: Breaking Dawn, Part II.

“It definitely turned out quite beautiful, not too monstrous! I’m really looking forward to seeing the fourth movie and I think the fans are going to enjoy what all of us did with the last book,” he said.
