Kellan Lutz Interview For ‘Immortals’
filed in Interview, Projects

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) unleashes an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful. The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission. As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity. ‘Immortals’ is set for release November 11th, 2011. The film also stars John Hurt, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Robert Maillet, Luke Evans and Corey Sevier.

What interested you in playing Poseidon?
Kellan Lutz:
It’s a dream role for me. I just love my character. And I love that Tarsem made them young Gods, so we can have more fun with it, like we all did in our 20?s or 30?s, we’re all youthful. If you’re a God, you might as well be at your physical and mental peak. I have a Trident, the Trident is pretty cool to fight with, especially with our battle scene. I play Zeus’ brother, so it’s that brotherly love, I feel like I’m the fun uncle when Zeus is making all the rules and he’s not so fun. I break them, but I can. The sea is my domain, and I can go for a swim.

Is it a traditional looking Trident?
Kellan Lutz:
Everything that Tarsem Singh does has to be unique, in its own way. The first Trident we had was heavy. I was trying to fight with it and was hitting myself and giving myself bruises, and that wasn’t fun (laughs). But we found a great method and the Trident is definitely very unique.

Was there special Trident training?
Kellan Lutz:
There was staff training, yes – that was fun! I’ve done a lot of training. I love action movies and I’ve been trained in a lot of mixed martial arts, but nothing with the staff. We had really great trainers.

Was it hard to find the right balance between playing the Gods as these powerful beings, while also making them relatable, in some way?
Kellan Lutz:
You don’t look at them as Gods. You make layers. I’m a brother and I’m like an uncle, so for my characters, I loved playing the uncle role. I have a funny uncle, and he’s just who I go to when I’m in trouble and I can’t talk to my mum. He’s always there to give me advice, but to also make jokes with you. He’s just always been there for me. That’s what I drew from for Poseidon. You’re just made into a God by the costume you’re wearing and the cool weapons and just being around the scenario that you’re in.

Kellan Lutz Talks Anti-Bullying & See Through Jerseys: “Yes!”
filed in Featured, Interview

Twilight hottie Kellan Lutz dished last night about two personal yet unrelated topics. He was bullied as a kid by none other than his older brother! He learned to fight back and “be tough or make yourself mentally tough.” Then, of course the conversation switched to a lighter note like Ashley Greene borrowing his clothes and his thoughts on girls wearing guys’ clothing. Find out more after the jump!

Kellan told reporters at the WWE and The Creative Coalition Present “be a STAR” Anti-Bullying Alliance event that he was actually called Dumbo growing up because he had big ears. He explained to OK!, “I was the middle child. I had older brother who beat me up. It made me a stronger kid, but the physical abuse was nothing compared to… I mean it is brotherly love, but I couldn’t tell my older brothers that kids at school were calling me Dumbo because they would beat me up even more.”

He also felt that he couldn’t tell his mom because she was busy taking care of the older brothers causing trouble and the younger brothers because they were young. He added, “I really had no outlet for a couple of years but then I made some really good friends and I trusted in them. And, I kind of dealt with it. You have to be vocal with it.”

By being vocal, he meant standing up for yourself. He told OK!, “My brothers always encouraged me to fight back and not run away so that’s probably not the best advice for me to give, but you have to talk to someone and you have to stand up for yourself. You have to be tough or make yourself mentally tough.”

And in case you’re wondering, he does see the people who called him Dumbo and while he’s not going to sink to their level, he dished, “…I get the last laugh.”

Sweet revenge indeed! Something else that’s sweet is Kellan’s fashion line. “My line is not the girly girl line,” he said. ”It’s a comfortable line and that’s how I live my life. I want to be comfortable. I can still be tough. I can still run.”

Actually, Robert Pattinson talked to him about doing his own line, too. Kellan added, “He was like, ‘I should do one’ and he found out I was doing one and he was like, ‘really?’ He wants to do one, too. We called it “Rags By Rob” or something like that. He’s always so hipster.”

Kellan’s line is men’s right now but he’s working on a women’s line that will launch next spring. The hands-on actor says he makes the call on every decision. “All of the designs, stuff like that. I know exactly what kinds of comfortable clothes I like. I’m very hands-on because I want to be.”

So, whether or not he’s worried about roommate Ashley Greene stealing his clothes, it sounds like it’s too late for that. He proclaimed, “She always does!” Then he added, “I think girls who rock guy’s clothes are cute. See through jerseys. Yes!”

Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz Reveal Potential ‘Breaking Dawn’ Blooper Reel Material
filed in Interview, Video

Once word got out about our exclusive Comic-Con Q&A with the cast of “Breaking Dawn,” fans took to Twitter in droves to ask for the inside scoop on everything from behind-the-scenes gossip to the vampire stars’ preferred brand of body glitter! But when we sat down with Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, there were two questions that really stood out…and garnered a couple surprising answers.

First on the list: a “Breaking Dawn” blooper reel! Is this an Actual Thing we might see on the DVD?

Sadly, the stars couldn’t confirm—but if there is such a reel, Ashley knows exactly which behind-the-scenes shenanigans she’d most like to see on it.

“We kind of pulled a prank on the director,” she explained. “The whole entire extended cast—like, every vampire coven—decided to plan out this dance, and do it instead of doing the scene.”

We’ll put in a pause here, so that everyone can gape in slack-jawed awe at the image of a thousand sparkly vampires doing the Tootsie Roll (or, even better, their own version of “Thriller”!) And Ashley revealed that their impromptu choreography had the desired effect: “Bill [Condon, the director] started hysterically laughing,” she remembered. So if there is a blooper reel? “I think that would definitely be on there.”

And now, the question on everyone’s mind: do the “Twilight” stars ever google themselves, or read about themselves on Wikipedia?

“Oh, I have to read my Wikipedia page,” Ashley said. “Because some people like to go on, and put untrue facts about you on it.”

And while we’d ordinarily go on to ask who would ever do such a ghastly thing, Mr. Kellan Lutz’s gleeful evilgrin leaves little question as to the identity of the culprit.

“What are you talking about?” he asked. “And how are your three kids doing?”
