The Hollywood Reporter: Kellan Lutz of Twilight fame and The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev are in negotiations to join Project X breakout Jonathan Daniel Brown in Kid Cannabis.

John Stockwell is directing the movie, which is based on a 2005 Rolling Stone article telling the true tale of suburban teens from Idaho who built a multimillion-dollar marijuana empire.

Lutz will play the teen’s older best friend, who loves the thrill in the beginning but soon finds himself over his head.

Dobrev, who has scheduling issues to work out before her deal can be finalized, would play a hot-to-trot 19-year-old who has a thing for the best friend and whose father is one of the biggest pot growers in the province.

The movie has been in development for several years and once almost came together with Chris Marquette and Cam Gigandet as the male leads.

Lutz, repped by Innovative Artists, Zero Gravity Entertainment and Morris Yorn, just signed on to star in Constantin Films’ 3D motion-capture adaptation of Tarzan.

Innovative-repped Dobrev most recently appeared on the big screen in last year’s The Roommate and will appear with Emma Watson in the indie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Diving into the fashion world, Kellan Lutz is putting time and effort into helping others look as good as he does with his own clothing line.

The “Twilight” actor started out as a model, which perhaps prepared him for his hunky role as vampire Emmett Cullen.

“I’m very thankful for my modeling years because I had to do a topless basketball shot where I was just wearing basketball shorts aged 14 and it really prepares you. I’m a guy I don’t really care. I can run around naked. I felt very at ease,” Lutz told press.

The 26-year-old admits his education is in fashion and his focus is switching from the big screen to the runway – and he’s been out looking for new ideas and trends to add to his own line.

“I was in New York for Fashion Week just hanging out with my peers in the fashion world and looking at them for inspiration,” Kellan said.

As for what clothing item Lutz would like to see more of, he says turtlenecks. “I’m very much into that and then the big scoop necks—for guys and girls. I’d love to see girls in turtlenecks!”
